Neil Kinnock packs them in at QCCA’s latest Camden Talks

Lord Neil Kinnock proved to be a very popular guest at our fifth Camden Talks event.

The former Labour Party leader packed out our main hall in April, with people coming from outside London to hear him speak, including several ‘A’ Level Politics students.

The event, facilitated by former Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger, saw Lord Kinnock speak passionately and at times emotionally about the state of modern politics, democracy, division, and Britain’s departure from the European Union.

Feedback from guests afterwards suggested the evening had been a rare and timely reminder of what principled leadership, democratic conviction and public service can look like.

‘I’m leaving here in high spirits,’ said one guest.

QCCA Chief Executive Foyezur Miah added: ‘It was an amazing evening and we are so grateful to Neil for coming and inspiring us all.

‘Camden Talks is about creating a place where people who may never otherwise walk through the doors of a community centre feel this space is for them too. We want this to be a home for ideas, challenge, hope and action — especially at a time when many feel disconnected from politics and public life.’
